Frequently Asked Questions

DO YOU TRAVEL ON LOCATION?

We do! All services we provide are offered in our studio, or we can come to you wherever you need us (ex. home, hotel, wedding venue).  During our peak wedding seasons, which are February-May and September-November we have an on-location service minimum of $500.

WHAT IS REQUIRE TO BOOK SERVICES?

We require a signed contract as well as a non-refundable 50% (of total services to be provided) deposit.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD  I BOOK?

We are booking roughly 6-12 months in advance for weddings.  If your date is sooner than that it doesn't mean we don't have your date available, please email to hear our availability.  Its recommended to book as early as possible!

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Please have freshly shampood hair, fully dried (preferably with a blow drier) and a clean moisturized face.  Please apply lotion at least one hour before appointment and refrain from sunblocks, and remember to really try to get all previous makeup off, including tinted moisturizers, eyeliner and mascara.

I HAVE ALLERGIES, HOW DO I KNOW WHAT'S IN YOUR PRODUCTS?

We use high quality professional makeup and hair products on every client, but if you have a known allergy to any ingredients, you need to tell us before your appointment so that we can avoid using those products that contain the known allergens.  You are also required to disclose any other kind of communicable illness or disease prior to the start of the appointment.

I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MAKEUP, HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO ASK FOR?

We always tell our brides that a picture is worth a thousand words--we love when my clients bring in photos.  The more photos the better, because that way we can dissect what it is about those photos that you like.  Its ok if you can't find the words to describe something specific, or if you are totally vague.  We try to ask leading questions to find out what you like and dislike.  Its recommended to send The Powder Room photos of yourself and styles that you are thinking of previous to your appointment, and if you aren't sure then we can make unique recommendations to each client.

SHOULD I ASK ALL MY BRIDESMAIDS TO GET THEIR HAIR AND MAKEUP DONE BY YOU?

Absolutely.  Having one or two bridesmaids opt out of getting their hair and makeup done will be noticeably different, both on camera and in person.  It's always worth a little extra investment to have everyone done by the same calibre of artist.

HOW SOON DO YOU NEED TO KNOW THE TOTAL NUMBER OF PEOPLE WANTING SERVICES?

We need to know the total number of people for hair and makeup services at the time that you book us with a signed contract. The number of artists/stylists and length of time we reserve for you is based off of this figure. We are always happy to add on additional services after initial contract signing as long as we have availability to do so, but that is not always possible. We can only guarantee services that are included on the initial contract.

HOW LONG WILL HAIR AND MAKEUP TAKE ON THE WEDDING DAY?

On the wedding day, both hair and makeup applications take anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes each per person, depending on the desired look, client’s skin condition and hair length/thickness, and other variables.

CAN YOU PROVIDE ON LOCATION SERVICES FOR THE BRIDE ONLY? WHAT IF WE DON’T MEET YOUR MINIMUM?

During our peak wedding seasons, which are February-May and September-November we have a service minimum of $500.  We are more than happy to provide services to just the bride, but the minimum pricing still applies.

WHAT KIND OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?

We take cash, check, Venmo and card (with a 3.1% user fee on all card transactions).

HOW MUCH IS APPROPRIATE TO TIP?

Its traditional to tip your stylist 20% of the services.
